Femke van Heteren BSc, NIVRE-re

In 2004 Femke graduated from Delft University of Applied Science with a degree in Environmental Sciences. Alongside her course, she worked at an independent consultancy, specialising in the environment and infrastructure and continued to work there for a few years after graduating. In 2009, Femke took the position of environmental consultant at BAM Milieu which, at that time, was part of BAM Wegen and the Royal BAM Group. Whilst working at BAM, Femke advised various BAM companies when their work involved the soil. She also acted as a “soil broker” the goal being for the various BAM projects to reuse land wherever possible (a win- win situation). She frequently took on the role of ground flow coordinator during major projects and liaised with the different competent authorities. Whilst working at BAM, Femke’s achievements included obtaining her Safety for Operational Supervisors SCC (VOL-VCA) certificate, as well as the Professional Diploma in Waste Materials.

In 2015, she entered the world of loss adjusters at VanderWal & Joosten (now McLarens), where she became acquainted with the ‘loss surveying’ profession. At VanderWal & Joosten, she was responsible for dealing with claims relating to asbestos and the environment. In addition to environmental claims, Femke also honed her skills in cable and pipeline damage, plus general Business Liability and Construction All Risks claims (CAR). Since 2019, Femke has been a chartered NIVRE (Dutch Institute of Register Experts) surveyor in the Liability/Miscellaneous Technical branche. Femke joined our team in August 2022, bringing with her a whole array of knowledge and experience.
